Not useful if you are even just moderately capable of fixing yourself
I thought this would be useful to find harder to locate files that could/should be deleted, and at $2 I figured it was probably worth at least $2 and my time. Well, considering I wasted $1.79 on a candy bar the same day at the grocery store, I’m not too upset about losing $2; however, I wish I didn’t spend much time with this. I even ran it a second and a third time thinking maybe I would find an “expert mode” or similar power feature.
Case in point, the “About this Mac” storage info will give you more details on the use of your storage — especially something like Backups (Time Machine local snap shots), which on my machine is currently 102.86 GB on my 500 GB SSD (big deal to me). Disk app should make users aware of things like that, even if it doesn’t offer solutions.
